The Israeli police chief and a senior Shin Bet official on Wednesday broke into Bab al-Rahma prayer building in al-Aqsa Mosque.

Large police forces accompanied the two officers as they conducted a provocative tour in the site.

Hordes of extremist Israeli settlers led by the fanatic rabbi Yehuda Glick on Wednesday morning stormed al-Aqsa Mosque and roamed its courtyards before leaving the place hours later.

The Israeli police have arrested a large number of Islamic Awqaf officials and Aqsa guards in Al-Quds (Jerusalem) after they participated in the opening of Bab al-Rahma prayer area last Friday.

The most prominent Awqaf officials who received expulsion orders were Sheikh Abdul-Adheem Salhab, head of the Islamic Awqaf Authority, and his deputy Najeh Bukairat.
