Israeli Jewish settlers took over a Palestinian house in Al-Quds's (Jerusalem’s) Old City on Tuesday, Quds Press has reported. The property is owned by the Al-Halaby family.

An informed source said that a group of Jewish settlers took over the house when its owner was away, noting that all of the woman’s clothing and furniture are still in the house. Israeli police apparently did not respond immediately to the calls of the Palestinians to protect the house from the colonial-settlers, who attacked neighbours and passers-by with pepper spray. When the police eventually did make an appearance, they arrested five Palestinian youths, but did nothing about the settlers.

According to Quds Press, part of this particular house was leased to the Jewish settlers by real estate dealer Isam Aqel, who was arrested by the Palestinian Authority last month. After he was sentenced to life in prison, he was allowed to travel to the US, having been handed over by Israel. He is now living in a safe house in America.
