Palestinian Minister of Awqaf and Islamic affairs, Youssef Edris, warned of the Israeli escalated violations against Palestinian Islamic and Christian holy sites.

Responding to Israel’s withdrawal from the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), Edris said that Israeli authorities seek take control over the Islamic and Christian holy sites away from the international control.

He pointed out that Israel’s attempts to silence Adhan in occupied Al-Quds (Jerusalem) came as part of its plan to blur the city’s cultural heritage.

On Tuesday, Israel has officially withdrawn from UN heritage agency UNESCO.

In October 2017, Israel said it will quit the UN agency, citing what it described as UNESCO’s “bias” toward the Palestinians.
